The Iphone4 is out

The Iphone4 is out and the way it looks now the “ facetime feature “ may be the most intriguing of the new version of the Iphone. It’s called Facetime video and Steve Jobs says it will change everything. To be honest it looks like a very cool feature and will probably make the Iphone even more popular than it is now. From Jobs perspective it’s a great gimmick gadget ,making couples buy multiple phones to use the new service. This will double the amount of people buying the phone of course. What’s a little unclear about all this is the real “ new news “about video calls on a cell phone. This has been around for a while and can certainly not be called a revolutionary idea. It didn’t work well for some Cell companies notably Nokiah and was discontinued in later versions. Another rather bizarre aspect of all this is that it will only work on WIFI where available and not on the cellphone provider of the individual phone. That is a little nuts as one will make a call on the network of the Cell company and then connect the video thru WIFI, that should take some advanced technology!!
It wasn’t clear what happens when you leave a wifi area if you will be left with an audio call or they will switch back and forth. I guess you need to buy the phone and find out. It’s clear that bizarre sites like chatroulette will utilize this new system for bizarre video conferencing things. Not to mention even less scrupulous sites.
As jobs says millions will buy these phones until the next version comes out.
