Google yahoo and live search

While the advent of the modern day search engine was certainly necessary, the way this key component of the internet has evolved leaves a lot to be desired. You typically enter a keyword or series of keywords and wait for the search engine servers to spit out a list of (hopefully) relevant links to match the query. Then you have to begin picking your way through an often dizzying maze of links, dozens of pages deep, in the hope of finding the information you want.

Another downside to this process is the often arbitrary way the result is presented. Nobody really understands the mysterious and ever-changing ranking systems that are employed by the search engine powers that be. The result can leave you frustrated and wasting valuable time hunting for the proverbial 'needle in the haystack'. There must be another way
